Washington State Horse Park in Cle Elum invites you to come meet the mustangs! A Mustang Madness event will be held July 20 and 21 at the park. The public is invited to join horse enthusiasts of all disciplines. Families with children are welcome to come watch and learn about wild horses, how they are gentled and where they still roam our public lands.

This annual event is presented by the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Mustang Yearlings/Washington Youth. Youth and adult trainers will showcase in-hand and under saddle 28 previously wild Oregon mustangs they’ve been working with for the past 100 days. A highlight will be the freestyle performances set to music where trainers show their horses’ unique talents and skills on Saturday evening beginning at 5:00 p.m.

Immediately following the awards at approximately 7:30 p.m. many of the mustangs will be auctioned for adoption to the public. Previous years’ mustangs have gone on to very successful careers in eventing, long-distance trail, 4-H programs, mounted shooting and even championships in dressage.

Mustangs are widely seen as intelligent, faithful, versatile and hardy, and are icons of the American West. All are welcome to events running all day Friday and Saturday. Those seeking to add one of these remarkable horses to their herd should plan to bring their trailers and their checkbooks.
