WRHA is an affiliate of the National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) hosting three shows annually. A mix of classes are offered at WRHA shows, including NRHA classes that require a competition license from NRHA for the horse and the rider to be an NRHA member, among other requirements. NRHA classes include Open, Intermediate Open, Limited Open, and Rookie Professional classes, open to any rider with class divisions determined by rider NRHA earnings. Non Pro, Intermediate Non Pro, and Limited Non Pro, classes are open to any horse owned by the rider or a member of the rider’s family.  Additionally, riders in Non Pro divisions must not ride or train horses for remuneration. Eligibility for the various divisions is determined by rider NRHA earnings. WRHA also offers NRHA Novice Horse classes for both Open and Non Pro divisions. Eligibility is determined by the horse’s NRHA earnings.    Finally, WRHA offers NRHA Futurity, NRHA Derby, and NRHA Maturity classes in both Open and Non Pro divisions, with eligibility determined by the horse’s age. At the most recent WRHA show, the NRHA Open Maturity class was won by Working For Chex owned and shown by Deanna Lally, and the NRHA Non Pro Maturity class was won by Gundealer owned and shown by Dana King. Full class requirements and descriptions can be found in the NRHA Handbook. WRHA offers plenty of classes for the entry-level reiner that do not require an NRHA competition license for the horse nor an NRHA membership for the rider. These are an excellent opportunity for someone new to reining to get into the show pen. WRHA can be found on the web at www.wrha.net as well as on Facebook.
