The Washington State Horse Park in Cle Elum, Washington invites you to their Kick It Up Expo, June 3 and 4, 2017.

The Washington State Horse Park is a non-profit organization that exists to serve the needs of horse enthusiasts of all ages, levels, and disciplines by developing and maintaining a first-class competition and riding facility.

Current park amenities include four large sand arenas, 160 airy stalls, a cross-country jumping course, miles of trails, and private RV hook ups — all in a beautiful woodland mountain setting in the heart of the Cascades.

In 2017, the park will host over 40 events showcasing a variety of disciplines. Approximately 30,000 visitors will come to the area from across the region because of park activities. The park is adding an intermediate level cross-country course this year as well as planning and fundraising to build a covered arena in 2018.

The Kick It Up! Expo is being held to encourage riders of all levels and disciplines to shake up their routine and find renewed interest in equestrian sports, engage and excite our youth, and to build respect between English and western riders. It’s a family-friendly weekend with something for everyone.

Some of the offerings are: children’s activities (face painting, crafts), Meet-a-Muzzle (a safe opportunity to become acquainted with a horse’s touch), live music, shopping, food, and Cowboy Church on Sunday. There will be a parade of breeds, 4-H and Pony Club presentations, and trail safety tips.

Clinics will be offered in the disciplines of Ranch Riding, Horsemanship, Competitive Trail, and Cowboy Dressage.

Seminars, demonstrations, and exhibitions will be offered along with the clinics. These will include a BLM Mustang demo and a three-day eventing seminar given by Todd Trewin. Todd has competed at the highest levels of three-day eventing including being a member of the Pan Am Three-day Event Team and the U.S. Three-day Olympic Team. He has also trained and competed at the upper levels of dressage and show jumping. Todd currently serves as the president of the Washington State Horse Park Authority Board. He has been instrumental in turning the dream of a horse park into a reality.

Featured Clinicians:

Sue Sultze – Ranch Riding Clinic: The Ranch Riding horse should reflect the versatility, attitude, and movement of a working horse. The horse’s performance should simulate a horse riding outside the confines of an arena and that of a working ranch horse. Sue Sultze’s (no bold) commitment and love of horses has contributed to her success in over 30 years of training and showing.

Matt Zimmerman – Horsemanship Clinic: Matt was raised on a large cattle ranch in central Nevada. At an early age he began riding horses to help gather, brand and work cattle on the family ranch. The ranch work was very demanding and required a lot of time and miles on horseback to operate. Matt has trained several different breeds of horses from Arabians to Quarter Horses and from Gypsy Vanners to Mustangs.

Dale Rumens-Partee – Cowboy Dressage Clinic: Cowboy Dressage is a combination of the best of both worlds: traditional western and classical horsemanship.

Jean Chaney – Competitive trail clinic

There are many ways to get involved, so Kick It Up! The event starts at 8:00 a.m. and the cost for spectators is $20.00. Children under 15 are free! For more information, visit www.wahorsepark.org or call 877-635-4111.
