State Awards Major Funding for Covered Arena Project

Washington State Horse Park

The Washington State Horse Park in Cle Elum, WA has many reasons to celebrate recently. The state has awarded $2 million to the park to fund our covered arena project! This is an incredibly significant milestone and will propel the project forward. Combined with other funds already secured, we are almost 80% of the way toward the full $4.6 million project cost.

“This major achievement starts us on a path toward breaking ground,” says Todd Trewin, eventing Olympian and President of the WSHP board. “We’ve designed an arena that will allow the park to host larger events, expand our season from five to nine months, and broaden the range of equestrian disciplines we serve.”

The covered arena project includes a 150 x 300-foot competition space surrounded by a 25-foot overhang—about an acre under cover—plus related infrastructure improvements and visitor amenities. This fifth arena will be the centerpiece of the 112-acre park. The design maintains the unique beauty of the park and includes expansive skylights and high walls, allowing plenty of light and scenic views.

The Washington State Horse Park is located centrally in the state, and we are excited how this covered arena will open new doors for a wide variety of groups and riders across the Northwest.
