The “cowboy race” is a fast paced timed event where horse and rider teams are judged on their horsemanship skills as they negotiate different varieties of obstacles. The Equine Event Center at the NW Washington Fair & Event Center is excited to be hosting their first ever NW Cowboy Racers EXCA Jackpot & Buckle Series.

To help get folks excited, and offer the opportunity to prepare for these events, practice nights have been scheduled on the 1st Monday of the month through July.  Both the Luft Trailers Arena and the Washington Tractor Arena will be set up with different obstacles with practice and coaching on individual obstacles as well as practice runs. An optional mini jack pot will round out the evening. The cost for the night is just $25.00, but does require advanced call-in by 3pm on Monday for participation.

The NWCR jackpots offer five different divisions and $250.00 added money for each division and prizes. The overall average of 2 runs per rider will determine the winners placing from 1st to 5th. The top 5 riders competing in the June 29th jack pot, open and youth divisions will qualify to run at the NW Washington Fair August 11-17 for $1500 in prize money! Brent Rollins, EXCA judge and Professional Horseman, will be offering a “Prepare for Cowboy Races Clinic,” September 5-6.  For more information on all the NWCR events or to sign up, please call the NW Washington Fair office at 360-354-4111 or email [email protected]
