The Back Country Horsemen of Washington spent National Trails Day in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest near Icicle Creek (near Leavenworth, WA). BCHW cleaned up the Black Pine Horse Camp. We had 44 volunteers and 4 USFS employees.

The 14 campsites can now hold a couple of trailers and four to six horses each. Most of the hitching posts have been replaced with either highline poles or trees cleared for easy access to tie highlines onto. The bathrooms have a fresh coat of paint and we added hitching posts near each bathroom.

BCHW did all this in preparation for the BCHW Statewide Work Party that will be held July 21–25. At this work party, we plan to hit the trails and get them cleaned up so that we can go camping and riding up on Icicle Creek.

Also, BCHW would like to thank all of the people that helped to make the Joe Watt Canyon Ride such a success. We had a great turnout of volunteers and the attendance was wonderful, too. We hope to see you there next year, May 19, 2019!
