Enter the Annual NWHS Youth Essay Contest!

This year's winners will be published in our April "Equine Events"-themed issue, so the theme for the 2010 Youth Essay Contest is "Memorable Events."

Deadline: 5:00p.m. February 15, 2010

Contest guidelines:
Include your name, address, email address (if available) and phone number.

Indicate whether your entry should be considered as Youth (age 13-18) or Child (age 12 and under).

Essays must be no more than 500 words.

Please include a photo of the horse mentioned in the essay (photos must be high resolution jpg images of at least 300dpi at 3"x5" or, for postal mail submissions, a copy of a 3"x5" or larger photo printed on standard photo paper).

Acceptable formats for emailed entries are .doc and .rtf attachments or text in the body of the email. We cannot open .wps or other format attachments.

MATERIALS WILL NOT BE RETURNED. PLEASE SEND ONLY COPIES.

Prize: Publication in the April issue of NWHS, a 1-year subscription to the magazine, and a selection of horse books, including Storey's Guide to Feeding Horses by Melyni Worth for the Youth winner and Jumping for Kids by Lesley Ward for the Child winner.

Honorable mention essays will be posted online in April at www.nwhorsesource.com/blog.
