Readers shared their favorite horse keeping tools.

Thank you for all the responses!

Connie Sargent-Jewell:
Bale twine cutter. It doesn't walk away like knives do.

Hallie Doud:
Right now I think it has to be a shedding brush....lol

Allison Mesa:
Not "tools" per se, Dover Saddlery's Rider's International Warmblood sheet. It's the only one out there that seems to fit my extra-large quarter horse and for a reasonable price! Other ones: TriCare Wound Ointment by Farnam, Smartpak's supplement program, Blanket Express, and I'll let you know of others cuz' some have slipped my mind! I really like my haytote. Check out, I believe it's, www.haytote.com.

Andi Robinson Houlden:
My favorite is the Oster mane & tail brush. My bro gave me one for my birthday several years ago and I love it;works great and is easy on my wrist.

Valarie Richey:
I LOVE my equine sprayer! Couldn't live without it :)

Brigitte MacKenzie:
My favorite is a metal pronged pitchfork. I don't know what brand but the one we use is awesome!!

Shelly DeBoer:
For my horses it is the hay boxes, the farm would be hard to manage without them you can look on the web sight to see what I mean faithequestriancenter.webs.com, and for me it has to be my spider knife,or muck boots.

Sharmaine McIntyre:
My favorite grooming tool are those little black oval rubber curry combs/brush...amazing for shine, deep dirt, shedding.

Allison Mesa:
Yes, Shelly, I agree! I have a corner feeder with two grain bins on the side and the hay area in the center. Keeps the horse from eating directly off the ground! http://www.noblepanels.com/corner-feeders.htm

Allison Mesa:
Baling twine! Just braided two new handles for the water bucket!

Lynn Copeland:
My favorite tool is my hands.  My horse has some pain issues with her back and neck from long overdue muscle training from her past.  She also has a club foot which causes pain.  So I give her massages with my hands and we both love our time we spend together.  I love to see Callie turn her head in such relief that she looks like she is going to fall over.  She just loves the massages, and I love the time we spend together.  We have such a special relationship because of the massages.  Just as we love the touch of another human, so does my horse Callie.  So my favorite tool is my hands, and the massages I give to Callie.  The bonding is very special, and the pain relief she gets makes for a good ride after she is feeling better.
