The Story Behind Flicka: Movie Trainer Rusty Hendrickson Focuses on both Horses and Riders

Rusty Hendrickson has added “Flicka” to his list of movie credits. This story of a Wild Mustang and the girl (Katy) who befriends him which is set to be released in movie theaters on October 20th, is another home run for Hendrickson. Movie sets are not new to Rusty or his horses, which have spent most of their lives in front of the camera. Those horses come alive for the filming crew when they need to but are quiet for the actors when the cameras are focused on them.

The Story Behind Flicka: Ma Bell is Maria Bello

Maria Bello plays the part of Nell McLaughlin, the mother of Katy in the movie Flicka, which is scheduled to debut on October 20, 2006. This is the story of how a horse (Flicka) and a 16-year-old girl (Katy) learn from each other. The impact of that relationship and their experiences together also initially creates a power struggle between Katy and her dad. However, ultimately the lessons they learn from the horse-girl union eventually unite the entire family.

You’d never know Ryan Kwanten was from Australia in the movie Flicka (set to be released on October 20, 2006), where he plays Howard, the brother of the main human star of the movie Katy. While Howard does not have the enthusiasm for the McLaughlin family ranch that Katy does he understands his sister’s passion and relationship with Flicka, the young mare she comes across in the wild and works diligently to befriend.
