Arabian Petition Online
October 5, 2007
This is a VERY important petition for us horse people … especially those of us into Arabians!! Many are planning to boycott the Scottsdale Arabian Horse show, and any shows put on by the Arizona club. Seems the Arizona club is opposing the use of the new Halter Resolution scoring system, which was FINALLY adopted by the Arabian Horse Association to judge horses on a scoring system, to level out the playing field for all horses, and not be judged on WHO IS HANDLING the horse in the arena!! This scoring system ALSO eliminates the ‘hard stance’ that’s been used for years with the Arabian … that FREEZE FRAME stance of the Arabian. This stance has been achieved by many trainers in VERY abusive ways, so that if the horse moves a muscle, he is harshly reprimanded. And if the trainer barely moves toward the horse, the horse tightens his muscles (in fear). This has awarded first places to many Arabians over the years, and it is UNACCEPTABLE. The Saddlebreds, Morgans, Tennessee Walkers, and some of the other breeds use it as well, but it’s not going to be tolerated in the Arabian industry any longer, and boycotting the Scottsdale show, through this petition is a BIGGY!!!!
Sign your name up to this petition, and then pass the link on to your other horse friends to sign up to it as well. Those signing don’t have to be members of the Arabian Horse Association. They merely need to be horse enthusiasts that won’t stand for these abusive types of training methods.
The signing of this petition will only take a few minutes of your time, and you don’t have to sign up or log-in to fill in the blanks to the petition and click the ‘sign’ button on the form.
