Brushes are high quality wood with a variety of bristle types to choose from, and the company's state-of-the-art laser engraving machine and computerized graphics and design expertise will help you to create one-of-a-kind horse grooming tools.
NWHS's Deb Taber says, "I love the personalized touch—no more worries about grooming tools 'wandering off' because someone mistook them for their own. The wood and the engraving are gorgeous."
A GIFT OF COMFORT: Equinimity introduces The Ultimate Hoofpick
Frustrated for years by every hoofpick she tried, Christy Jemail of Louisville, CO decided to invent her own. The result is called The Ultimate Hoofpick, and it is superior in three ways: it has a truly ergonomic, grippy handle; the steel is an unbendable 40mm thick; and the precise angle of the pick itself is patent-pending and superbly effective. These attributes make removing even dried mud the consistency of concrete a snap--hence the bright yellow and black Jackhammer theme.
NWHS's Karen Pickering says, "What a great product! It's easy to use and makes hoof cleaning fast and easy."

The Gift of Health: Important Information from Equine NUTRITION
By now, most horse owners living in the Pacific Northwest know they live in an area of extreme selenium deficiency. What they may not know is that selenium is divided into two groups: organic and inorganic.
Organic selenium is the form of selenium in plants and is the only form animals naturally encounter. It has been taken up from the soil and incorporated into an amino acid. This is the form that is digested and used efficiently.
Inorganic selenium, seen on labels as both sodium selenite and selenate, is actually a byproduct of copper mining and is highly toxic. For years, this was the only type of selenium available.
Organic selenium is absorbed from the gut via amino acid pathways, which limits excessive uptake. Selenite is passively absorbed, which allows rapid and unregulated uptake of potentially toxic levels. The benefits of organic selenium for both the pleasure and performance horse include faster recovery from stressful events, less damage from performance, higher immunity, and quicker recovery from disease. Certainly, in areas of extreme selenium deficiency, supplementing with any selenium is better than no selenium. But unless organic selenium is given, the animal won’t be receiving maximum benefit.
Organic selenium is included in all of Equine Nutrition’s vitamin mineral supplements including Horse Guard, Mega Dose, Trifecta, and Super Gain. For more information, visit www.horseguard.com and explore the nutrition links.
