Giving - The Web Way
Doug DeVries
December 2007

Printer friendly page

It is the season of giving, right? Even if you don't feel like you have much, we all have the opportunity to give something to someone. So here is a new twist in the process: have you ever wanted to give to someone in your family, your neighborhood, or at work, but didn't want anybody to know? You have a giving heart, but you don't want to create any obligation or awkwardness with the people you give to.

Solution: www.GivingAnonymously.com

Giving Anonymously was developed locally "to enable and encourage you to be your own charity, and for you to give anonymously to those around you in need." The process is very simple. Visit their website, choose an amount to give, provide the address details of the recipient, provide your credit card details, and let them take care of the rest. The people at Giving Anonymously send a check to the recipient and invite them to leave a thank you message on their toll free number. Visit their website above for all the details.

Other Giving Resources:

Check out Charity Navigator (www.charitynavigator.org). This website evaluates the health of thousands of charities so you can find a charity you can trust. Browse their site to find a charity that interests you, and you are on your way to helping.

Also, explore The Greater Good (www.greatergood.com) website. Here, your purchases make it free and easy to support good causes such as animal rescue, hunger, breast cancer, child health, rainforest, literacy, and ecology.

Giving to others pays both ways. The one in need is helped in tangible ways, and you receive great satisfaction in helping make life richer for someone else.
