Trafalgar Square Publishing Announces Recent Release
Trafalgar Square Publishing is pleased to announce the publication of Miniature Horses by Rebecca L. Frankeny, VMD. Careful, selective breeding over the years has resulted in a true scaled-down version of the horse-the Miniature. Dr. Frankeny, a veterinary surgeon with ten years of clinical experience working with Miniature horses, demonstrates the need for veterinary medicine to be scaled-down in accordance. The rate of occurrence, diagnosis, and treatment of many diseases are affected by Miniatures' size and unique physiological and metabolic demands. Unfortunately, when faced with health issues, many owners, breeders, and veterinarians unfamiliar with the breed have been without a reference, until now. Fortunately, Dr. Frankeny has provided the manual that fits the bill. Not only does this book provide basic information regarding the equine musculoskeletal system, respiratory system, digestive system, endocrine system, and reproduction as it applies to Miniatures, it also gives special attention to Miniature-specific problems such as dwarfism. Readers will find the chart listing normal physical parameters, the pages describing clinical signs of disease, and the catalog of Miniature horse references especially valuable.

Dr. Rebecca Frankeny, formerly a trainer of Thoroughbred racehorses, was first introduced to Miniature horses and their unique medical concerns as a veterinary student at the University of Pennsylvania. She has since then been a Miniature horse owner herself. Dr. Frankeny is currently the surgeon at Comstock Large Animal Hospital and teaches equine medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno.
