![]() From My Saddle Maybe it is just having survived the winter flu season, but I’m reminded of the importance of a focus on ongoing “wellness” – the proactive and preventive side of overall health. My recent return from a week away reminded me how important it is to cultivate health and mental rest. It has to be purposeful and planned or it will not likely happen in our fast paced world. My mind wandered to our equine partners. If it is important for us, it must also be equally important for them. They are dependent on their human partners for a wellness program that is carefully planned and implemented. The pages of this issue are filled with information on caring for your horses and preparing them for overall wellness. Qualified writers provide information on nutrition, vaccinations, dental care, parasite control and other aspects of responsible horse ownership. We are very grateful to the writers we have and the generous contribution of time and effort they put forth to bring us this information.
Make sure you stop by and see us at the Northwest Equine Expo in Albany, Oregon, March 18-20. This event is jam packed with clinics, shopping, a variety of breeds and demonstrations for the equine community. Come by our booth so that we can hear about your latest adventures with your equine partners.
This year marks our 10th year! In celebration we are offering opportunities and special discounts throughout the year. Watch for the 10-year anniversary logo on the pages of upcoming issues.
Next month we showcase our youth. We will have the results of our Youth Essay contest and share the winning submissions. In addition we will feature some community organizations that combine horses and young people with amazing results.
We want your input. Our measure of success is your satisfaction with the content of articles as we seek to provide a broad range of services for the equine community. Have a great March and Remember to Ride!
