New Beginnings!

Dear Readers,

Happy New Year to all! As I reminisce about the holiday season, how thankful I am for all the good food, family and friends. Not everyone shares those same blessings. There’s a sense of gratitude mixed with a sense of responsibility to consider those less fortunate than myself. Memories of a warm crackling fire, hot cocoa, great treats and snuggling in to watch a good movie are being slowly nudged to the back burner as I consider the opportunities of the coming year!

We’re excited to begin our 10th year in business. I’m in the horse business to stay because of my love of horses and horse people! It’s truly a privilege to work in the equine industry. Our goal is to continue to provide education and information that will help the average horse owner have a more meaningful and enjoyable relationship with their horse. Our staff is anticipating a great year.

A recent newcomer to our committed staff is Jessie Hanson. Jessie has taken the position of Director of Sales. She brings years of experience working as an equine wellness consultant for some of the top national equine health and nutrition companies. You may have read some of Jessie’s articles in our past nutrition columns. Jessie will continue to contribute to our wellness columns and be available to assist you in putting together an advertising plan for your business no matter the size. We’re eager to share her years of experience, not only in the job market, but in raising top quality horses for show and sale.

The past couple of months have been filled with exciting opportunities. Recently I attended a reining clinic with Sue Sultze, tuning up my technique. Another great opportunity was a trail safety clinic with Scot Hanson. He uses his expertise with mounted police work to teach recreational riders all about setting themselves up for success and safety wherever they ride. Finally, in mid November I participated in a trail ride to benefit the Si’s Toys For Tots, who give generously to children each Christmas Season. We have great activities in the Northwest! Check out clinics, shows and benefits available near you in our “What’s Happening” section or our Events Calendar online at www.nwhorsesource.com.

In the pages of this issue you will see some of the finest stallions in the Northwest. Find just the right stallion for your mare, and pick up tips on breeding and stallion care.

Have a Happy New Year and Remember to Ride!
