New Books from Heather Smith Thomas
Heather Smith Thomas has 3 new books coming out this year. Care And Management Of Horses will be published by Eclipse Press in September. This book takes an in-depth look at the horse in nature, problems brought on by domestication, practical horse handling; taking into consideration the horse's basic nature and instincts, facilities; ways to minimize problems of confinement, feed and water, foot care and hoof health, and seasonal care.
Her horseman's handbook on Conformation - What Makes A Good Horse, is being published by Storey Books, to be released at the end of the year.
Her other forthcoming book is Beyond The Flames; A Family Touched By Fire, the story of her daughter's severe burn injury 4 years ago, heroic struggle for survival and the long (and ongoing) road to recovery--and how it affected their family. Published by Oak Tree Press, this book will be released in late summer.

New Auto/Truck Accessory Provides New Options In Lining Up Hitches & Trailers.
It's a versatile new product that takes the headache out of lining up a trailer hitch and a hitch ball - and it can be used on any vehicle by using the rear-view OR side-view mirrors. The Magnetic Hitch Locator from White Company is a set of reflector globes attached to masts that extend up to 60 inches. The masts attach to the bumper and hitch by strong magnets and the globes extend above or outside the vehicle bed, allowing the driver to see where the hitch ball and trailer hitch are. When the two globes touch, the hitch ball and trailer are aligned and can be hooked up.
Because of its reflective globes, the MHL can be used effectively day and night because it reflects the light from the backup taillights. The MHL is the only hitch alignment guide that works on all vehicles and can work with rear view AND side view mirrors from either side of the vehicle. The MHL can rotate a full 180 degrees with fingertip adjustment and needs no tools to install. How Does The Magnetic Hitch Locator Work?
The Magnetic Hitch Locator sells for $39.95 and is available online: www.magnetichitchlocator.com or by calling 701.678.2704

Equimax™ Proven Safe in Pregnant and Nursing Mares
The Only Combination Dewormer FDA Approved as Safe and Effective for Pregnant Mares, Foals and Stallions
Equimax™, the leading equine combination dewormer in the US and the world, is now FDA approved as being safe and effective in pregnant and nursing mares, according to Pfizer Animal Health. Studies show the anthelmintic had no adverse effect on fertility and that mares treated with the paste had healthy foals even when given three times the recommended dose every three weeks throughout their breeding, entire gestation and foaling.
With the inclusion of its pregnant mare approval, Equimax is the only ivermectin/praziquantel dewormer to be proven safe in mares, young foals and stallions. Previous, worldwide studies on the anthelmintic have shown that stallions can be treated without affecting their fertility and that Equimax is safe for use in foals as young as four weeks of age.
Equimax was designed to provide a powerful solution to the newly understood threat of tapeworm (Anoplocephala perfoliata) infection in horses.
