![]() From My Saddle Celebration and Balance
As I looked through the set of ears in front of me I realized that the one thing that makes daily stresses go away, is sitting on the back of my horse. I have an unbelievable horse that puts up with my weekend adventures once a month or the occasional ride I sneak in during the week. There is no complaining or stubbornness. She just responds with willingness. It takes hours to get a horse to this point. I’m very fortunate. She teaches me a lot about unconditional love and acceptance. I can have a bad day, be a misery to be around or…be in a great mood. She loves me no matter what. I can learn a lot from her. I believe she’s a gift to me in my struggle to find balance.
I am learning that it is important to celebrate the good things in life. I believe that one of the greatest failures is giving up too quickly. The greatest deterrent I have found to that tendency is to take a break and appreciate the gifts that life sends our way. Last month I was able to escape some of the frustrations of owning a small business. I had the opportunity to attend opening night of Cavalia in Seattle. I have never seen anything that so captured and honored the relationship between horse and man. Magnificent horses, talented acrobats and creative staging made an incredibly restful yet exciting evening. Meeting some of the people that produce the show, the actors and horses was quite an honor. This experience helped to make the long hours and uncertain times a little less stressful. Being able to share some of the story with you in an upcoming issue will be even better!
This month is our Western Discipline Issue. With so many fun and exciting activities out there to choose from it’s sometimes hard to know which one to try first! “Penning Strategy from a Pro” has information for anyone interested in Team Penning, from the beginner to the pro.
We’d like to thank all of you for your patience as we are launching our new Online Equine Marketplace. We had a vision of a program that could make selling your horse or products much easier! You not only can place FREE classifieds and an online photo ad, but a magazine EM ad as well! The OEM is designed to allow advertisers to manage their own ads. While the launch has had its challenges, be assured we are feverishly working on making this program efficient and effective for you! We appreciate your helpful comments and will do our very best to see that your needs are being met in a timely fashion.
Have a great August and remember to get on that horse and have some fun!
Quote of the month:
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up. Copyright © 2008 The NW Horse Source |
