Website Tips and Tricks
Everybody needs a couple of helpful tricks in their back pocket, especially when it comes to a website.
1. Copyright your website: You can get a U.S. Copyright for your Website, Images, Written Works, Music and more all online in just 5 minutes. Visit http://www.copysite.com/.
2. Sometimes your website needs a checkup. http://validator.w3.org/ is a great site to have your HTML validated. Use http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/ for CSS checking. The site will provide feedback on specific HTML or CSS. Netmechanic.com is also a great fee-based resource for enhancing your site.
3. Have you ever wondered if your site was available and active? http://www.internetseer.com or http://www.siteuptime.com are free website monitoring services that watch your website 24/7/365 and notifies you if it becomes unavailable. Both companies have more comprehensive paid options.
4. Sometimes you need to get your website noticed. Google has built a simple/powerful system in AdWords (http://adwords.google.com). With Google AdWords you create your own ads, choose keywords to help them match your ads to your audience and you only pay when someone clicks on them. Hard to miss when the Google Network reaches more than 80% of Internet users (December 2003).
5. And finally, if you are bored why not brush up the latest lingo at www.buzzwhack.com. It may just be important to know what a “pocket call” or a “data dump” really is.
