Dry Creek Tack Rack

Mid-Minnesota Wire, Inc. is pleased to announce the introduction of Dry Creek Storage Solution to the equine market.  Dry Creek’s durable and modular design is intended to address the pressing storage requirements for equine related tack.

The Dry Creek Tack Rack, which was recently introduced at the 2004 MN Horse Expo, marks the first time a completely integrated tack organizational system is available for comprehensive tack storage.  Modular in design, Tack Rack is adjustable in two foot increments allowing the user to design a storage system to meet individual needs.  Built using high strength tubing and cold rolled wire, Tack Rack is designed to withstand the toughest of barn environments.  Tack Rack's open design promotes maximum air movement allowing tack to dry quickly.  Above floor mounting allows for easy cleaning underneath effectively reducing floor clutter.  Dry Creek products are finished with a durable powder coat with three standard color options.

Washington AQHA Benefit Ride, August 21 on Vashon Island

Making it's first appearance in Western Washington, the annual Washington AQHA Benefit Ride will take place this year on picturesque Vashon Island located between Seattle and Tacoma in the center of Puget Sound. Scheduled to take place at Misty Isle Farms on August 21, the one day ride will benefit the Vashon-Maury Island Saddle Club and the American Quarterhorse Foundation.

Part of the 400-acre Misty Isle Farms is dedicated to more than 10 miles of groomed and maintained wooded private equestrian trails that will begin the event and continue on to the scenic countryside of historic Vashon Island. Providing the venue is Seattle businessman and equestrian, Thomas Stewart, owner of Misty Isle Farms that is also home to the Misty Isle Farms brand of naturally raised Black Angus beef.

Included in the $45 ride package is either a two, four or six hour ride covering up to up to 27 miles, saddle poker, a Misty Isle Farms natural Black Angus beef BBQ with all the trimmings, a silent auction, a drawing for a western saddle and live entertainment. Additional entertainment will be provided by George and Sue MacDonald's sheep herding Border Collies, Jean Jacobs' national champion Miniature Horse and the Misty Isle Farms Friesian carriage exhibition. Artists from the surrounding community will also have their works on display as well as donations in the silent auction.

According to AQHA Ride Coordinator, Bill Cassidy, only 300 rider reservations will be accepted with no on-site registration available. Trailer parking will be provided at Misty Isle Farms. Lodging accommodations are available on the island at a selection of quaint bed & breakfasts, but are limited in capacity and number. Additional information on the ride can be obtained by calling (360) 435-5264. Lodging information can be obtained at vashonchamber.com.

The 2004 Benefit ride is sponsored by Luft Trailer Sales/Sooner Trailer, The Northwest Horse Source and sanctioned by AQHA.

Give Your Front Pasture that Attractive and Professional Look!

New T-Postcovers… make a visible, safe, and professional looking fence in just minutes. This new product slides over and fits tightly on standard t-posts. They can change a rusty, plain and dangerous fence into one you can really be proud of.  These high tech TPC’s are manufactured of high-density polyethylene, stabilized with ultra violet inhibitors, and durable enough to resist the harsh conditions of the elements. They’re tough, impact resistant, and available in white or black!

TPC’s can be used with new or existing t-posts. They are quick and easy to install, really attractive, and guaranteed for 10 years.

When they are in place, the T-Postcover looks like a newly painted 2” pipe post.  Unlike pipe posts, TPC’s never need painting.   The patented TPC design has a ‘built-in spine” that holds wires in place.  The wires do not slide and no insulators are needed for electric applications.  The TPC can be used with smooth, barbed, woven, or high tensile wire.  They also work great with safety-coated high tensile electric wire products.

Native Horsemanship Youth Program Calling for Donations

The Native Horsemanship Youth Program (NHYP) is a non-profit organization located on the Port Madison Indian Reservation. Started in 1998, the program provides horses and horsemanship lessons to disadvantaged youth on and off the reservation. Recently the program expanded to include anyone interested in learning about native horsemanship. Lessons are conducted on a donation basis, and no child is turned away due to inability to pay.

AQHA stallion Joey (pictured) is the program’s main lesson horse. He lives with his mares and foals in a large pasture on the ranch, giving lessons in his pasture or at the baseball field across the road. His 3-year-old AQHA appendix filly is another lesson horse. All the foals are used in the horsemanship program.

The program is supported by donations, grants and foal sales, and is staffed by community volunteers. One volunteer set up a living trust for at-risk children in the program, which provides them with nutritious meals, school clothes and school supplies.

The NHYP accepts donations of cash, tack, children’s clothing and horses. They also sell APHA and AQHA foals. Located on the beautiful Kitsap Peninsula, across the water from Seattle, the NHYP welcomes visitors. For more information please call Lynne Ferguson (360) 649-0827.
