NWHS owner and publisher Karen Pickering says,  “You need to check out these custom mud flaps. Imagine your logo on your mud flaps! They’re a high quality, stainless steel, laser cut product on a quality rubber/plastic material designed to protect your truck from chips and corrosion. They are also easy to install—it's drill-less installation!"

Even on his busiest days, he will take the time to make sure his customers are taken care of.  Contact DuraFlap at (541) 582-6699 or visit www.duraflap.com.

power of Paints raises $11,600 for St. Jude

The American Paint Horse Association (APHA) teamed up with Benbrook Stables on June 9 for a “Saddle Up for St. Jude” trail ride, chuck wagon cookout, and auction that brought in 98 riders and more than $11,600 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. It was the first time employees from APHA headquarters took on such an event, which will become an annual charitable activity for the association.

APHA President-elect Carl Thurow traveled 400 miles from Wichita, Kansas to Benbrook, Texas to join in the ride and support the campaign. “Horses have a lot of power to motivate people,” Thurow said, “and the American Paint Horse Association was honored to head up such a successful charitable venture.

For details about this year’s outing and plans for the 2008 APHA Saddle Up for St. Jude Trail Ride, visit www.apha.com/stjude. The site also lists 2007 riders and supporters, as well as photos from the recent ride.

DEVELOPING GENETIC TOOLS WILL LEAD TO MAJOR HEALTH ADVANCES

Equine scientists are developing a unique set of research tools that will lead to major advances in the health of horses worldwide. The ability to begin this research is thanks to the funding of phase one of Morris Animal Foundation’s Equine Consortium for Genetic Research.

The first of these research tools, SNP chips, will allow researchers to define underlying genetic factors that influence highly heritable as well as common equine diseases, such as tying up, heaves, laminitis and osteochondrosis.

The Equine Consortium for Genetic Research is a five-year, $2.5 million project to rapidly advance equine health. Led by University of Minnesota professors Jim Mickelson and Stephanie Valberg, the consortium includes 32 scientists from 18 elite academic institutions throughout nine countries.  For more information, visit www.morrisanimalfoundation.org

GMC Topkick – Built to Transform the way Businesses do Business

This summer's “Transformers” movie features Ironhide, a GMC TopKick medium duty truck that transforms into an Autobot weapons specialist, much the same way the GMC TopKick transforms to meet commercial applications of all shapes and sizes.

To transform a TopKick or Kodiak into a dump truck, furniture delivery vehicle, tow truck or other specialty vehicle, GM uses Special Vehicle Manufacturers. These companies work closely with GM to ensure quality, safety and durability standards are met.

“While real-life GMC TopKick and Chevrolet Kodiak models can’t take on nefarious alien robots, they can help transform any business into a more efficient, more profitable, more reliable operation.,” says Mark Karney, GM Fleet and Commercial Operations marketing director for vans and trucks.  For more on GM products and services, visit www.gm.com.
