Gratitude. More aware of what you have than what you don’t. Recognizing the treasure in the simple - a child’s hug, fertile soil, a golden sunset. Relishing in the comfort of the common.
Max Lucado
As a new year begins I have been reminded of the importance of gratitude. I want it to become a way of life for me. A life of celebration, rather than regret. A life that finds the positive and hopeful rather than a life that focuses on the negative. I want to find peaceful comfort in the common.
Gratitude is what came to mind as I was thinking about how fortunate I am to see the Northwest Horse Source begin its twelfth year! I am incredibly grateful to the companies and individuals who have made this journey possible. I’m not sure where NWHS would be without the love and support of friends and family over the years. A big THANK YOU to all.
I’m excited about what’s stirring at NWHS. We’ll have some new faces helping us this year, some new columns and new companies joining us as we continue to bring you the best educational equine resources in the Northwest! Thank you for your input on the Reader’s Survey this fall. It has helped us with our commitment to bringing you relevant and practical resources.
Your input is extremely valuable to us. That’s one reason we have decided to encourage more Letters to the Editor. I’m shortening my column to make room for your letters, so that the greater equine community can benefit from your comments. We welcome your comments about the content of articles and what you find useful, or what you may disagree with. Maybe you feel there is additional information that would be useful to readers. You may even wish to call the equine community to action.
Here’s some things to keep in mind if you send a letter in: Sign your letter. We need your name and state to print the letter. Please keep your comments respectful and courteous. Remember to have a balance between emotion and logic, and make sure you have verified facts you are using. That will help to make certain we can get your letter out there.
You may submit your letters via email to editor@nwhorsesource.com. Put “Letter to the Editor” in the subject line. Or, you may mail them to NWHS, PO Box 717, Blaine, WA 98231.
You may also submit questions and comments directly to some of our writers at www.nwhorsesource.com in the “Ask the Experts” section. The comments and questions are posted there for the benefit of other readers as well.
God bless you and thank you from the bottom of my heart for the privilege of bringing NWHS into your home for another year. Remember to ride!
