BLOGS – you are missing out!

If you’ve never tried it you are probably still wondering what everybody’s talking about. A BLOG – short for WeB LOG – is a simple public discussion board. People interact back and forth through a website about a range of topics. Just about any topic is fair game in a blog. Many blogs are orientated around business – others are focused on personal issues. Check out www.blogger.com to find something that interests you.

But how does blogging apply to creating a successful equine website?

1.   Blogs are written by real people who help humanize your website and offer information about your services that can not be found anywhere else.

2.   Blogs are all about word of mouth – what better way to promote your services than through satisfied customers.

3.   Blogs contribute to a higher ranking on search engines because they spawn reciprocal links and fresh content. Writing in other industry blogs and naturally including (not spamming) your website address also creates new traffic.

Blog publishing tools are easy to use. Setting up a blog actually requires very little knowledge of HTML. But if you are still not sure if it fits for your own website, explore other industry-related blogs first. These blogs can assist you in understanding your customers and your field. They can provide you a forum to express your expertise and interests to potential new customers.

Everybody’s doing it – perhaps it is time to explore the world of blogging.
