Finding Your Equine Resources
Doug DeVries, Equine-Design
March 2003

Finding the resources you need is a big part of using the Internet. The majority of people are online to look for information. Sites like news.google.com ,about.com , and cnet.com invest millions of dollars to deliver top quality content to their users.

You want your web site to deliver the same valuable content to your customers? A few simple principles:

1. Keep content less than 3-clicks away. A user should never be more than 3-clicks away from the content they are looking for on your site. This means you have to keep your navigation menus obvious and intuitive.

2. Use syndicated content. Contract with another equine resource (like NW Horse Source) and obtain syndicated content. This is content is prepared by NW Horse Source, but distributed to your web site through dynamic HTML code. In other words, when the original content changes, so does yours. With little effort on your part, your visitors are getting the information they want. Contact us if you would like more information about the syndicated content from NW Horse Source .

3. Provide intelligent search capabilities for users. The ability to simply search a web site for "horse care products" is super-helpful for your clients.

4. Provide clear and precise procedures for contacting you personally. If a person can't find the information they are looking for, you want to make it very simple for them to contact you and get the information.

Other sites where you can find ready made content for your site: www.freesticky.com or http://www.web-source.net/ . Many news web sites provide a direct news feed for your site as well. The key is finding the right content for your customers.
