Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Horse And Man Gallops Into Seattle

Having charmed the likes of Scoop Vessels, president of the American Quarter Horse Association, to Hollywood celebrities (from Meryl Streep to Chuck Norris) during a five-week engagement in Los Angeles, CAVALIA: A Magical Encounter Between Horse and Man, galloped into Seattle on June 17 for six weeks, for the third stop on its U.S. tour.  A ground-breaking multimedia production staged inside a nine-story tall touring tent (the largest in North America), CAVALIA features more than 60 performers (including 36 horses).  Sharing the spotlight with equestrians, aerialists, acrobats, dancers, and musicians, are 13 magnificent Lusitano stallions, a contingent of fleet-footed Quarter Horses, stage-savvy Belgians and a year-old Arabian.  Spectators view a single 160-feet wide stage (requiring 800 tons of sand to prepare) seated theater-style. “It’s an amazing blend of  art, music, and the horse,” said Sandra Labrucherie, President of the California Dressage Society.

Created by Normand Latourelle, one of the founders of Cirque du Soleil, CAVALIA takes place at the corner of Garden Avenue North and North Eighth Street in Renton, where it has transformed an empty parking lot next to the Boeing plant, into a mesmerizing equine world.  Tickets cost $34-$73 adults; $23-$59 children under 12.  Discounted senior and student tickets ($23-$55) are available for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday shows.  VIP packages with special seating and parking are $145-$165 adults; $95-$115 children.  For more details visit:  www.cavalia.net.

Giant In A Compact Size

The new 25G manure spreader from Pequea Machine, Inc. demonstrates big abilities in a compact, ground drive model. Easily maneuvered in tight spaces, this spreader allows for in-stall loading, making clean out more efficient.

Once loaded, the 25G spreads in a wide and even pattern with eight aggressive beaters engineered for maximum application. The beaters are constructed of durable ¼” steel and are detachable for easy replacement if necessary.  A standard independent dual drive and a lifetime guaranteed poly lumber floor, deliver the utmost in dependable operation and durability.

9' 6" long and 44" wide, the 25G has an 18 cubic foot capacity. Separate controls operate the web and beaters and, as is true of all Pequea spreaders, the 25G is equipped with “T-Rod” web chain, with three times the fatigue life of other chains. Other standard features include a patented top-wind swing away jack and pin hitch.

Pequea Machine, Inc. manufactures a complete line of spreaders from 25 to 125 bushel capacities. Contact them in New Holland, PA at 717-354-4343 or visit their website at www.pequeamachine.com.

Multi-tasking Towing System Handles Fifth Wheels and Goosenecks, Yet Frees-up Truck Bed When Not In Use

“The Freedom System trailer hitch keeps fifth-wheel hardware completely out of the truck bed, so owners can have full use of their pickup again,” explains Rex Putnam, president of Putnam Hitch Products. “The Freedom System eliminates all that hardware when the truck isn’t towing because the fifth wheel stays on the trailer pinbox in an inverted position. You simply pull the pickup away from the fifth wheel, pull the handle to remove the kingpin from the truck bed, and all that’s left is a wide open bed.  When you do need to tow again, the head couples to a kingpin adapter located in the ‘lock & load’ under-bed mounting assembly.”

An extensive battery of independent testing has demonstrated that when the Freedom System is employed, there is no overloading of the pin box assembly.

By inverting the fifth wheel head, the Freedom System combines the strength (up to 20,000-pound loads) and reliability of a fifth wheel unit, while also accommodating gooseneck hitches (up to 25,000 pounds).

The Freedom Gooseneck/Fifth Wheel System is immediately available from Putnam Hitch Products and dealerships throughout the country.  Call 1-800-336-4271 or visit http://www.putnamhitch.com.

New Weapon Fights Flies In The Stable:

Farnam Horse Products Introduces EZ Traptm Insecticide-Free Fly Trap

“EZ Trap is versatile and has a large volume trapping capacity so it catches more flies in the area without inviting more in, and it doesn’t stink-up the barn,” said Liz Bishop, marketing manager for Farnam’s fly control products. “Jug attractant traps are excellent for perimeter or outdoor areas. When placed in correct locales, they draw flies away from horses. They serve an effective purpose when used in conjunction with on-animal and stable fly control products.”

Many horse owners make the mistake of placing these jug traps with attractant next to their horses’ stalls with the intention of trapping the flies already in the area, Bishop added.

“This tactic actually brings more flies to the area because the attractant is placed in the wrong spot. The trick is to use both EZ Trap and jug traps together as part of a comprehensive fly control program--but to make sure that they are placed where they are most effective,” she said.

EZ Trap provides complete versatility of use. Hang it up, stand it up, or “gang” several traps together in high infestation areas for improved efficiency.  The insecticide-free, adhesive surface is rain-proof and never dries out--allowing it to continuously trap flies and other flying insects both inside and out.

For more information about Farnam insect traps or other horse products, in the United States call toll free at (800) 234-2269 or direct at (602) 285-1660, or go to www.farnamhorse.com on the Internet.  Founded in 1946, Farnam Companies, Inc., is a privately held company and a leader in the animal health products industry.
