Gaining Perspective….

June 2004

Printer friendly page

It’s hard to comprehend the speed in which the days go sailing by without waiting for me to catch up. However, I suspect I’m not alone with my predicament. As I left for a trail ride yesterday morning, thoughts raced through my mind about all the things I should be doing instead. It’s amazing, as I climbed on my horse, wandered through the woods and had good conversation with other riders, I realized how therapeutic the ride was. My thoughts turned from my “to do list” to the equally important task at hand: Relaxing, enjoying God’s incredible creation, and just winding down.

After a good ride I’m always relaxed. The stress of everyday seems to melt into the sunset and problems just aren’t as big. What a great way to gain some perspective.

This month we focus on tack and equipment. The cover art was supplied by Melanie Stoltz-Brown of Snortin’ Horse Studio. Check out the story behind her art in this month's issue. Also included in the pages of this issue are articles and product reviews to help you make informed decisions relative to saddle fit, getting started on a new building project and choosing the right panels for a round pen.

We highly value interaction with our readers. That’s why we are so excited about the response to our new article series by Alice Trindle - Developing a Willing Partnership. Our goal with this unique approach was to simulate a clinic setting in print. In the actual clinic setting, questions and requests are a natural part of the process. Our thanks to readers who responded with comments and questions. Alice welcomes the opportunity to communicate with readers and address selected questions with the entire readership. You may contact Alice through her website www.tnthorsemanship.com.

In our ongoing commitment to provide quality information and resources for our readers, we begin a series of articles on equine supplements in this issue. NWHS is proud to partner with Nick Hartog of Grand Meadows Nutritional Products to cover such issues as: Identifying the need to supplement, identifying legitimate products – the right product for the right reasons, product delivery options i.e. liquids, powders, pellets, treats and supplement safety issues.

This month we unveil our newly designed Equine Marketplace. This represents months of interaction with our online audience and planning for a venue that affords visitors the opportunity to search and shop with ease. For advertisers we have created an affordable and efficient secure site featuring FREE online text ads, easy online ordering and a “see your ads as you build them” component. Visit www.nwhorsesource.com today and be one of the first 50 visitors to get an online PHOTO AD FREE.

Have a great summer and remember to ride!
