[Lexington, KENTUCKY] - Dr. Pearse Lyons, president and founder of Alltech, has been named Communicator of the Year by the Central Kentucky chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The award is bestowed annually to an individual who demonstrates an ethical approach to communication and an ability to effectively communicate with internal and external audiences.

"Having heard Dr. Pearse Lyons speak, it's truly a pleasure to be able to present him with this award," said Cliff Feltham, co-chair of the PRSA Awards Committee.

Dr. Lyons commented, "This award is a great honor, not only for me, but for Alltech as well. Our business is built on the principle of good communication at all levels and this is an affirmation of the value of that foundation."

The award was presented to Dr. Lyons as a result of his tireless efforts promoting Kentucky's future as a leader in energy and agriculture. He spent much of 2007 travelling to all corners of the state, sharing his vision in town hall meetings, press conferences and appearances before the Kentucky Legislature, impacting the Commonwealth and starting a dialogue at all levels.

Dr. Lyons has continued to promote Kentucky's future in 2008, with the creation of the Kentucky Experience, a vision for the state's future that includes, among other things, addressing its $250 million milk deficit; constructing the rural community biorefinery, a facility with cellulosic ethanol and solid state fermentation capabilities; and investing in aquaculture to reduce the amount of fish imported into the United States.

Since it was founded 28 years ago, Alltech has developed a strong regional presence throughout the world, with 1,900 employees and a presence in 113 countries. For more information, visit www.alltech.com.

Alltech is the proud sponsor of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games 2010T to be held September 25-October 10, 2010 in Lexington, Kentucky, USA.
