SBS Farms' Jennifer Alfano Takes Championships at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

May 2008

Lexington, KY - May 14, 2008 - At last week's Kentucky Spring Horse Show at the Kentucky Horse Park, Jennifer Alfano of Buffalo, NY, won multiple classes and brought home a handful of tricolor ribbons in the professional hunter divisions. Alfano is the head rider and trainer at SBS Farms with Susie Schoellkopf.

Alfano dominated the Regular Working Hunter division with Rock Star, owned by Bright Star 158 LLC. They won all four over fences classes for the division championship. Alfano and her horses had to change venues for competition in Kentucky due to weather, and they moved indoors for showing on the second day.

"Rocky is always good; I can always count on him. I ride him everyday, and he still amazes me," Alfano said. She did not worry about having to compete in a new ring. "That's one thing with him I never have to worry about," she explained. "I can pull him out of the stall and take him in any ring, anywhere."

In the same division, Alfano rode Jersey Boy, owned by SBS Farms, to second, third, fourth, and fourth place ribbons. In the Second Year Green Working Hunters, Jersey Boy finished with two first place ribbons and a fifth, which gave them the reserve championship in the division.

Sting, owned by SBS Farms, was competitive in the Second Year Green division as well, but was even better in the Green Conformation Hunters. They placed first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth to win the reserve championship.

Alfano also won classes in the First Year Green Hunters with Meredith Lipke Bartolone's The Specialist and in the Pre-Green Hunters with Kid Rock, also owned by Bright Star 158 LLC.

Pony rider Madison Brayman had a good week at Kentucky. She rode Ducks Unlimited to the win in the Green Pony Hunter under saddle, and they finished first, fourth, and sixth over fences in the division.

SBS Farms will compete next at the Devon Horse Show in Devon, PA, on May 22 to June 1. Last year, Alfano and Rock Star won a championship and they will look to repeat that tricolor performance at this year's prestigious show.
