“AQHA PRESENTS” LINEUP OF MAY SHOWS ON RFD-TV

May 2008

Printer friendly page

America’s Horse, May 6, 2008 – The American Quarter Horse Association’s weekly “AQHA Presents” television schedule for May is packed with all new must-see shows. Viewers will learn the tricks behind swinging a rope from the pros during a new “AQHA Team Wrangler Presents” episode, followed by new episodes of the multi-show series exploring more of the AQHA Bayer Best Remuda Award winning ranches. The much-anticipated “Team Wrangler Presents Fix My Horse” episode, an entertaining finale to the popular aqha.com Fix My Horse contest, will round out the month’s programming.

On May 7, AQHA will present Team Wrangler roper Steve Orth demonstrating how to swing a loop. The new “Team Wrangler Presents” episode will break down the deceptively detailed sport of roping for viewers as Steve teaches a rookie how it’s done. From how to hold a rope properly to swinging the loop from a horse, viewers will not want to miss any of this show.

Following this “Team Wrangler Presents” episode, AQHA will continue its tour of the AQHA Bayer Best Remuda Award winning ranches. This series explores some of the most accomplished ranch horse programs and the horses that have earned them their prestigious reputations. On May 14, visit the Stuart Ranch of Waurika, Oklahoma, the Bar B Ranch of Beaver, Oklahoma, and the R.A. Brown Ranch of Throckmorton, Texas. The May 21 episode features the Pitchfork Land and Cattle Company of Guthrie, Texas, and two New Mexico ranches, Bogle Ltd. of Dexter and CS Cattle Company of Cimarron. The episodes follow AQHA’s release of its “Best Remudas” DVD, available to members for a limited time with a signed copy of the “Best Remudas” book by AQHA’s Jim Jenning’s. To learn more about this special offer, visit http://www.aqha.com/discover/promoItems/bestremudas.html.

Finishing the month’s programming on May 28 will be “Team Wrangler Presents Fix My Horse.” After reviewing many aqha.com contest entries in which members described a problem area with their horse, AQHA selected Corinne Schnur of Butler, Pennsylvania, as the lucky member to be featured in the episode and America’s Horse magazine. Schnur’s winning essay was chosen from more than 200 entries and was a plea for help from her 8-year-old American Quarter Horse gelding Apparently Insane, also known as “Jake,” who needs assistance with lead changes. Schnur and Jake are all-around competitors who want to expand their list of classes.

Team Wrangler members Leslie Lange, Charlie Cole and Ted Turner visit Schnur and Jake to fix their lead change problem and also help Schnur prepare for halter classes, which she hopes to begin entering. RFD-TV viewers get to watch all the action as the Team Wrangler members take on the training challenge.

Following this exciting competition, AQHA will be beginning its next competition in search of an American Quarter Horse Youth Association member and horse to feature on the upcoming “Team Wrangler Presents Makeover My Horse” episode. Entries will be limited to youth members and will be accepted between May 19 and June 9. Check aqha.com for more updates.

All programs will air on the regular RFD-TV schedule – Wednesdays at 1 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eastern and Saturdays at 12:30 p.m. Eastern. To see the full programming schedule go to www.aqha.com/association/television/index.html.
