Diane Anderson and her husband of 30 years have a 200 acre ranch north of Cochrane, Alberta. Diane and her husband raise a small purebred herd of Simmental cattle. They enjoy two grown girls and two granddaughters who love the farm and have an interest in art. With 5 horses, dogs and cats, cows and calves everywhere it is not hard for Diane to find inspiration for her artwork. Her art studio is on the farm, and houses her gallery and office. Diane has a number of paintings and resin sculptures, but you can tell bronze sculpture is definitely her passion. Working in 3-dimension allows the viewer to appreciate her vision from all angles.
Over many years of creating sculpture Diane has become comfortable and proficient with many subjects. She used to see herself as an equine artist, but her abilities as a sculptor have allowed her to approach any subject.
Diane has created many commissioned sculptures for both corporate and private collectors. All of Diane Anderson’s sculpture shows movement, emotion and incredible detail. One of Diane’s favorite sculptures is “Forever Young”, inspired by her grand parents. “I will always be grateful for their influence in my life. They were married for over 60 years and were in love to the end.” Other commissioned pieces include a bronze sculpture, “Southern Family”, presented during the 2005 Masters in honor of the 30th anniversary of Spruce Meadows. The special challenge of that piece was to regress their ages by 25-30 years. “When the Going Gets Tough” commissioned by Great West Kenworth, depicted a team of horses pulling a very heavily loaded wagon out of the mud. Diane enjoys the challenge of commissions because “it changes the task from simply creating a nice image to figuring out how the image needs to be created to suit a certain purpose”. Her work is on display all over the world, including Britain, Holland, Germany, Switzerland and throughout North America. She has done tiny sculptures under 4 inches in height to a life-sized eagle with a seven foot wingspan.
