FEATURED ARTIST: Patrick Spavor

May 2005

Growing up in Southern British Columbia’s Kettle Valley fuelled my love of drawing and painting. In the mid-eighties I started drawing portraits and landscapes as gifts. Soon I transformed our home with trompe l’oeil murals and intricate faux finishes. My children were thrilled to have horses jumping into their bedrooms and whales splashing on the walls. This extension of a fun hobby began the creation of "Patrick’s Paint Works".
Although my portfolio includes murals, faux finishing, signature horse jumps and portrait pieces, equine art has always been a passion. Horses have been a huge part of my family’s life for the past twenty years. Today, my paint gelding Tag is a huge inspiration, continually reminding me that patience and perseverance does pay off.
My clients and collectors include backyard pony owners and serious equestrian competitors, to equine business ventures. I enjoy creating images with graphite and acrylic mediums. No subject or size is too challenging. My style involves bold, vivid color that brings the canvas to life. I want people to see images that are so lifelike, you are tempted to reach out and touch them. Creating a visual and emotional connection is the end result.
The opportunities in transforming a business or residence are endless. Whether it’s a framed portrait, signature jump or personalized mural; art can incorporate life, environment, history, and your imagination, influencing emotion and enhancing economic success.
